Straight Through the Front Door: A Single Story Corner Lot Home in Mirage, Las Vegas

Open the double doors at 5616 Sligo St and the house does something most floor plans don't. It lets you see through it.

The ceiling lifts into a vault right at the entry. Tile carries your eye straight back through the great room to a wall of French doors and windows, with the covered patio waiting on the other side. Before you've taken a step, you understand how the whole home is laid out, and you can already picture where your furniture goes.

That sightline is the best thing about this house, and it's worth walking before you read anything else about it.

The Layout

It's a single story, three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and 2,022 square feet per public record.

A formal dining room sits just off the entry, which gives you a place for holidays that isn't the kitchen counter. Straight ahead, the great room opens into the kitchen and a breakfast nook, so the main living space reads as one big room instead of three small ones. Two sets of French doors open to the covered patio, so the home pulls the outdoor space into the day.

The bedrooms are split sensibly. The primary suite sits off the nook, and the two other bedrooms share a hall bath with dual sinks. A powder room handles guests, and the laundry room has built in cabinets and counter space, which is more storage than most laundry rooms get.

The Kitchen, Honestly

Let's be straight about the finishes. The cabinets are oak, the counters are tile, and the floors are tile. They're classic, not new. The appliances are stainless and look newer.

What the kitchen does have is good bones. There's a breakfast bar for casual meals, a walk in pantry with real shelving, and an open view into the great room so whoever is cooking is still part of the room. A buyer who wants to update it gets to do that on their own schedule, with a layout that already works.

The Primary Suite and the Other Two Bedrooms

The primary suite has its own French doors out to the patio. The bath has dual sinks, a jetted tub, a separate shower, and a walk in closet with real room in it.

In the current photos, one of the other bedrooms is an office and the other is a hobby room, and both work well that way. If you're working from home or you have a craft, a gym setup, or a guest room to fit in, the plan flexes without any construction.

The Lot

This is a corner lot, so the house sits back from two streets, with a desert front yard of boulders, river rock, and a few palms wrapping the corner. The driveway leads to a two car garage.

Out back, the patio extends past the covered section and curves around the house, with low maintenance desert landscaping and room for storage along the side. There is also a side yard that can be used for RV parking. If that matters to you, bring a tape measure and your rig's dimensions to the showing, and get the parking rules in writing before you write an offer. Rules vary by city and neighborhood.

The Neighborhood

Mirage sits in 89130, close to the 215 and US-95 and to the shopping and dining around Centennial Hills.

One honest note. Several homes nearby are larger two story plans over 3,000 square feet. This is not one of them. The case for this home isn't square footage. It's a floor plan with no stairs, on a corner lot with room around it.

Who This Fits

It fits if you want single story living and a layout you can read in ten seconds. It fits a buyer who would rather put their money into the lot and the floor plan, then update the finishes over time. It fits someone who needs a flexible second or third bedroom for work or a hobby.

It fits less well if you need five bedrooms or a fully modern interior on day one.

Before You Go Look

Walk in the front door, look straight through to the back, then follow the sightline out to the patio. That walk tells you more than any photo does.

Ask about association status and any parking rules in writing before you write. If you want help figuring out how this home compares to others in Mirage and Centennial Hills, that's a conversation we have every week. We will tell you straight, including if it isn't the right fit.
